2 April 2014 Easy
living starts here
Just 15 minutes from the walk-on ferry on the west
bank of the Mississippi, Bayou Segnette
State Park is a huge
contrast to the city environment. BIG sites, lots of privacy, full services and
scrupulously clean.
Park was close to empty. |
On one of our constitutionals we walked through the levee
wall and watched a few locals pulling out some keepers out of the channel on
the bayou side of the wall. This is a serious construction with massive doors
to close off the roadway. We do not want to be here during hurricane season.
Any other time, Bayou Segnette is a park we would seek out should
we pass this way again. If the phrase “pass this way again” sounds familiar in
connection with New Orleans
give yourself a gold star. You could even listen to the song again if you want
– it’s “Toulouse Street”
by the Doobie Brothers.
Not now – you have to finish reading (or at least look at
the pictures).
Cut through to the washrooms |

Looking toward the park from the bayou side. You don't want to be on this side when the door is closed. |
That's the door behind me. |
Woodie the fake gator. |
Lots of water. No swimming. Poor Norene.
OK – now you can go play Toulouse Street.
