28 March 2014 Traveling to Sam Houston
Jones State
Park
I-10 eastbound is a combination of hairy/scary (through Houston) and boring (after Houston).
A highlight of this segment was the Louisiana Welcome Centre just inside the
state line. Free fresh hot coffee coupled with genuine southern hospitality.
And the Centre is located on a lake.
We took a few pics on the way.
The easy part before Houston (this is the Victoria cutoff) |
Only 30+ miles to Lake Charles |
Leaving Texas - Louisiana State Line |
And since the Centre looked so nice we took the usual
tourist shots.
Nice lake in the background |
Hurry up I smell coffee |
Of course my resident fish wanted to take a stroll down to
the shore of that nice lake. Get closer so we could read the signs.
She saw this…
No "No Swimming" signage needed for Norene. Where is Norene? |
Met her back at Harvey.
Inside.
Swim’s off.
Let’s get going!
Approaching from the west you go through Westlake. Not real pretty here. |
Or here. |
Maybe a swim at Sam
Houston Jones
State Park would be better…
