February 6 to 20th
After a brief overnight stay in Quartzsite en route from Senator Wash we set out
for Lake Havasu and the State Park. Topography
changed from good old rolling desert to some nice spiky little peaks…
Plus we were treated to several spectacular river views…
before heading down into Lake Havasu City:
Settled in at the State Park. Generous sites with a great
waterside location – too bad the water is 52F and my “fish” (the camera-person
here) wouldn’t go in the water.
So we did the next best thing – we wandered under the
transplanted London
Bridge a couple of days
later – with a walk around the nearby waterfront. Kind of low key and peaceful
now – probably hops in the summer.
After a couple of weeks (the max allowed on one stay) in the
State Park we decided to go boondocking again in the Craggy Wash BLM lands just
north of the city. This decision came after looking at a few “cheek by jowl”
(handy if you have an itch you can’t reach) rv resorts in town – we’re not
ready for that level of closeness yet after the Senator Wash experience.
