Craggy Wash: "Boondocking" again

Circa Feb 14 through 23ish

Yep - I have degenerated into generalities datewise sort of. Still have a watch. Don’t use it much except to observe Happy Hour.

Tucked away from the highway but just outside the northern limits of Lake Havasu lies an aptly named BLM camping area. No services, no supervision, no mandated campsites and no cost. This wide wash is almost like a valley with a ring of craggy foothills on 3 sides.

Mrs. Rockpockets found a huge variety to entertain her on our hikes and usually weighed more after a hike than before. And so did my backpack.

Our campsite is at the bottom of this trail (starts at our back door - if we had one).

One of our favourite hikes was through this valley:

Haven’t the foggiest idea where these rocks are – only know that Mrs. Rockpockets liked the contrasting colours. Yes, the desert was lighter by a couple of pounds after we left.

More scenery further up the wash:

On our second last day we took an impromptu hike out back and Norene foolishly agreed with me that it would be a good idea to follow the next big wash down toward the city. You know the deal – let’s just go around the next corner; down the next hill; repeat until past the point of no return. About 3 hours of energetic hiking later we made it back to camp. On the bonus side – we found this cute (can you say cute about rocks?) mini arch (about 4’ high) and this area carpeted with flowers in the wash less travelled.

Still here? Awake? Time to inflict the ultimate soporific – a desert video!!!!
