Bayou Segnette State Park New Orleans

2 April 2014      Easy living starts here

Just 15 minutes from the walk-on ferry on the west bank of the Mississippi, Bayou Segnette State Park is a huge contrast to the city environment. BIG sites, lots of privacy, full services and scrupulously clean.

Park was close to empty.

On one of our constitutionals we walked through the levee wall and watched a few locals pulling out some keepers out of the channel on the bayou side of the wall. This is a serious construction with massive doors to close off the roadway. We do not want to be here during hurricane season.
Any other time, Bayou Segnette is a park we would seek out should we pass this way again. If the phrase “pass this way again” sounds familiar in connection with New Orleans give yourself a gold star. You could even listen to the song again if you want – it’s “Toulouse Street” by the Doobie Brothers.
Not now – you have to finish reading (or at least look at the pictures).

Cut through to the washrooms

Looking toward the park from the bayou side. You don't want to be on this side when the door is closed.

That's the door behind me.

Woodie the fake gator.
Lots of water. No swimming. Poor Norene.

OK – now you can go play Toulouse Street.
