20 July 2014 (yes more of the same day - seems like we did everything on the 20th)
Lake Superior still had ice
in May. You could take this lake water and chill it just a few degrees and you
would have ice again. Swimming is suicidal.
We left the Provincial Park 20 minutes away with an ambient
temperature of about 75F. Thunder Bay’s
waterfront was at least 10F cooler. We were no longer hot from our hikes.
They dare to sail this monster lake in little boats:
And they pretend that people would actually stay outside for
extended periods of time here. By choice. Perhaps in July and August. Brave
people live up here. Does not mesh with my personal plans but it was pretty
this day.
The rest of the city included houses, stores, manufacturing
and other commercial activities. You have probably seen that stuff before so here's a food truck (OK trailer) instead:
